60 eventful years around leveling

KOHLER can look back with pride on six decades of trend-setting milestones. KOHLER has been able to shape the industry with numerous innovations and continuously expand its success as a technology leader.

The company was founded in 1963 by Dipl. Ing. (FH) Franz Kohler and his wife Waltraud Kohler as a sole proprietorship and converted into a limited liability company in 1972. The company originally developed and produced gearboxes – as a second mainstay, used machine tools were purchased, overhauled and resold.

A striking milestone in the company's history was the first leveling machine for stamped workpieces, which was presented by Franz Kohler in 1969. Many of these leveling machines were exported in the 1970s, a large number of which are still in use today.

The following years were characterized by restlessness, innovative spirit and steady growth.
KOHLER was able to develop into a leading manufacturer of leveling machines for the sheet metal processing industry. KOHLER increasingly focused its expertise on large leveling machines and plant technology for the steel and automotive industries.
The inventive spirit from Baden led to numerous special solutions with an unrivaled high degree of individualization and to the undisputed reputation as a pioneer in the field of leveling technology.

Since 2011, KOHLER has been part of WINTERSTEIGER AG, which is headquartered in Ried im Innkreis, Upper Austria, and is the world market leader in the SPORTS, SEEDMECH and WOODTECH business areas.
With new company headquarters in Lahr, new patents such as a hydraulics-free electromechanical gap control or the development of a servomotor-driven expansion of coiler mandrel, as well as other concise milestones, KOHLER can continue on its successful course.
